01-003-HB In a photo taken between 1875-1902, the brick rice mill in Barnyard Village on Friendfield Plantation was destroyed by fire in 1902 that had been spotted by a night watchman. The mill was described in the Georgetown Times as, "…one of the oldest and best buildings in the county - a landmark- and intended for pounding as well as threshing, it was made of brick, with iron doors and window frames, and cost considerable money."
